4 Have you tried looking at http://www.linux-laptop.net/ ? It might give
5 you some hints with the same (or similar) laptops.

7 To see if you have working acpi support check
8 /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/info
9 /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state

11 They should tell you more-or-less the state your battery is in (charging
12 or not, power etc). If these files exists then you have working acpi
13 support, and the problem might be the gnome applets. What kernel are you
