55 > Well I had a similar problem with a samsung scanner printer not showing up in lsusb. Dmesg show irregularly some messages while plugging and un plugging. I tracked the problem down to a broken physical connection (usb connector / cable). So changing the cable and port and hard reseting scanner corrected my problem.
