14 I dont know how well "having the new gcc around but not using it" works, since
15 its standard libraries are not affected by the gcc-config mechanism (and thus
16 a gcc-4.* will happily use the libraries installed by gcc-5).

18 If you want to keep your system gcc-4 only (which is only going to work for a
19 very limited time), you should locally mask the newer versions. Offhand I see
20 no real reason to do that though. As somebody said, "2014 called - it wants
21 its compiler back!"
