Thanks for your note.

I have run k3bsetup, and have had k3b working well wtih CD-Rs. This is the 
first time that I've tried DVD+Rs, however.

As with everything k3b ... I'm sure that the problem is not in k3b, but rather 
in its component parts that it is a front end to. In this case: growisofs. 
I've changed the subject of this email to reflect that.

After having done a bit of research, and found out that others have this 
problem as well. I've tracked down the developer of the growisofs program, 
which resides within the dvd+rw-tools package, and have sent him an email. 
I'll be sure to post whatever happens to this list. 

If it does turn out to be a bug, and if he submits a patch, I'll be sure to 
file a bug with the Gentoo Bugtracker, along with the patch. That way, the 
patch can be incorporated in without having to wait for it to come down the 
pipe.
