The error message was "Permission denied" |

Trying the exact same chmod command from shell also resulted in |

Then I got suspicious of my kernel (hardened). |

"make menuconfig" brought me to GRKERNSEC_CHROOT_CHMOD ... and that's |

the reason for my problems!! |

So, before chroot-ing, I did: |

sysctl -w kernel.grsecurity.chroot_deny_chmod=0 |
