1 Here's a workaround that seems to help in a lot of cases...

3 1) Shut down all instances of Firefox

5 2) rename your profile directory. It usually looks something like
6 ~/.mozilla/firefox/<gobbledeygook>

8 3) Start Firefox again. It'll create a new profile.

10 Firefox has occasional problems when the profile from an older version
11 won't work for the new version. You should be able to copy or import
12 the bookmarks file from the old format. But you'll have to do your
13 settings all over again.
