Kurt, I see what you're saying about the perceived value of the ad spots, but it seems to me sponsors aren't motivated to sponsor us by the ads, because, for instance there are sponsors who have donated what has to be thousands of dollars of machines/parts (Genesi, HP, AMD, nVidia come to mind) who have not been given an ad spot (I don't know if this is because they were offered one but didn't want it, or what), but in the absence of an established policy, it seems issuance of the ad spots is largely arbitrary, which would leave us dictating terms as it were ;) so couldn't we dictate terms to make what Lance is suggesting possible, which is a good idea and something that would improve usability of the site?
