9 You don't *need* a separate partition. For example, I run catalyst
10 out of a chroot on an Ubuntu machine at work (on a machine that's
11 maintained by a non-Gentoo sysadmin). However, the main catalyst devs
12 are probably running catalyst on native Gentoo systems, which means
13 that there may be a few kinks to work out if you want to go a
14 different route [1].

16 Since system-building is a fairly resource intensive task, I'd
17 recommend not using a full-blown virtual system unless you have to.
