The Gentoo Guild to OpenLDAP Authentication bears a disclaimer "This |

document is not valid and is not maintained anymore." I'm currently doing a |
| 63 |
few Gentoo/LDAP roll outs, and I've been struggling to find the correct |
| 64 |
information. The information is out there, but unfortunately not all in one |
| 65 |
place. I've managed to collect all the steps for my implementation, |
| 66 |
understand them, and have tested them on a standalone network prior to my |
| 67 |
implementations. The document, as disclaimed, is in need of updating, and I |
| 68 |
for one, think that Gentoo NEEDS a valid LDAP implementation document. |

I've been a UNIX user since 1988, Solaris admin since 1991, heavy Linux user |

(Linux From Scratch distribution maintainer) since 1996, and Gentoo since |

2005 (with a bit of Redhat thrown in there somewhere!). I've not really |

contributed anything of substance (couple of suggestions/documentation |
| 74 |
fixes/bugs) back to Gentoo since I've used it, but since I'm a fairly |

decent writer, I thought perhaps this was a good place to start. |

Therefore, I propose to help update (and for a time, maintain) the page, so |

we can remove it's (embarrassing) disclaimer! I'm happy to submit my |
