Do you use prefix-launcher[1] on aix ?

It's higly recommended to use it for aix and hpux, as the bootstrap
process used on linux/solaris/mac/freebsd is unlikely to work, because
most of the bootstrap packages need some patching, which is not done by
bootstrap-prefix.sh.

[1] http://prefix-launcher.wiki.sourceforge.net/
Eventually you want to download prefix-launcher-1.1-fetched.tar.bz2.
But I must admit that it's unlikely to have your ldap problem fixed.
