1 OK sorry for interfering, I thought there was a common clue between preceeding stuff and mine.
2 2.6.20 works fine now, thanks to all. The issue seemed to be a misconfigure, though I'm almost certain I did use nvidia-SATA module at first. Might be that the hd needed some other tiny option... I couldn't figure out what it was but still, it works!
