It could be, but this will be short. =8^)

Yes, I'm very happy with this Tyan. I had some issues with it originally
due to generic memory and no way on the first couple BIOS releases to
limit memory clock, but they added that and it has been very solid every
since.

More in general, however, I've been /extremely/ happy with Tyan's Linux
support! This was my first Tyan board, partly because they tend to do
higher class (more expensive) stuff than I'd been able to afford before,
but I have been happy enough with it and with their Linux support that it's
very possible I'm now a lifetime repeat customer! How many vendors supply
appropriately configured sensors.conf (lm_sensors) files for their boards?
Tyan does! Their support folks are quite happy to answer Linux questions,
and the faqs/readmes for each board often have Linux specific config
information, as well. Of course, one might /expect/ a bit more support
when the board costs $400, as compared to a $50 board, but that was the
going rate for dual-opteron boards at the time, so it wasn't as if they
were overpriced.

PCI-X or PCI-E? That s2885 /does/ have PCI-X. However, I've not seen
video cards for PCI-X, only AGP and now PCI-E, so I'm assuming you mean
PCI-E. If it's really PCI-X, then yeah, that board does it.

Regardless, Tyan may have a dual Opteron PCI-E board if you need it, and
as I said, I'm very happy with them and their Linux support, so that's
what I'd be looking for if I were upgrading ATM.

As for RAID, it really changes the way you view hard drives, doesn't it?
I doubt I'll ever go back to a single disk system, now, at least for
anything but a laptop.
