Maybe I'm getting a little conservative in my old age, but I'm not
concerned about being on the bleeding edge anymore, having been cut on
it too many times in the past. Perl v5.8.8 does what I need it to -
chew on data. Python v2.5.2 does what I need it to - it runs Portage
and is perfectly fine to teach myself the language with. The 2.6.28.7
kernel does what I need it to - not freeze when I try to shut my laptop
down (okay, that's a quibble about v2.6.29 and not Gentoo).

I guess what I'm trying to say is that being a minor release or two
behind the times is fine with me because I can still do everything I
need to do every day.
