Technically, gentoo is already ported to the PS2, as it is just a mips |

machine. However, the PS2 needs custom toolchain and kernel ebuilds. |

Some fellow already did it a while back, including a custom portage tree |

overlay that would work with the machine. However, he disappeared |

shortly after somebody leaked the news to slashdot, and since then that |

is all very out of date. |

Really, the problem with gentoo on PS2 is that you need a *very* *very* |

old toolchain, and you have to use a 2.2 kernel from what I understand. |

When it comes down to it, it really isn't worth buying a PS2 just to |

run linux on it, as you will probably be very disappointed. |
