unfortuantly, I can't offer any help besides thae famous "it works for 
me".

Anyway: Someone on the german mailinglist (gentoo-de) reported the same 
problem (and was laughed at - it seems quite an uncommon problem so 
far), but no solutions could be found.

Maybe you should create a bug as there are now at least two systems 
where this occurrs.
