7 we cannot hardcode the actual ABIs in PMS because adding/removing ones
8 would require an EAPI update which is a terrible idea

10 i don't see a benefit in adding the helper/phase functions either and
11 wouldn't actually address your concern: you'd still need to know the
12 API and how to use them.
