Yes... I read the announcement on I think both gentoo-desktop and on one |
12 |
of the dev's blogs thru gentoo-planet, and was upset then, but had a few |
13 |
weeks to churn before 4.11-beta1 came out and I needed to make some |
14 |
decision and take some action. |

Runtime toggling still pulls in the dependencies, unfortunately, and I |
17 |
don't want them near my system, so... |

The kmail devs left users high and dry without a dependably working mail |
23 |
client, and they knew they were doing it. Why would I go back to that |
24 |
(especially with claws-mail working so well for me)? |

(Yes, kde4 itself did similar, but back then I didn't have much option as |
27 |
I was too heavily based on kde. Now, it's pretty much just the core |
28 |
desktop and the games as over the course of kde4 I've dropped kde for |
29 |
pretty much everything else. I still like the core desktop tho and would |
30 |
prefer to continue with it, but not if it's going to be pulling in |
31 |
semantic-desktop junk, and I honestly don't know if the required patches, |
32 |
should gentoo/kde not reverse course, will be maintainable at my skill |
33 |
level, over time.) |
