6	I hate to state the obvious, but I had exactly the same symptoms (approx.
7	50% dropped packets) on one machine. It turned out to be a cable that didn't
8	seat properly in the NIC socket. Unplugging/replugging fixed the problem, at
9	least for a day or two. I finally threw the cable away.
