Perhaps it would be useful to compile a kernel with SMP disabled in order
to determine the likely answer to that question (I gather only the first
enumerated CPU would be used). To ensure that your testing is "complete",
try this scenario with and without IO-APIC support also, assuming that the
problem does not immediately evaporate.
