16 A default kernel is a very good starting point even for a web-server. Put in
17 drivers for your network card and disk-controller and you are all set. If the
18 server is going to be under heavy load then the WOLK sources might be taken
19 into consideration. If you have to run a firewall on the webserver then you
20 should have a peek at iptables settings as well.
21 One of my best performance tips is to put the DocumentRoot on ReiserFS, in my
22 experience it gives a nice performance boost.
23 RAID 0 (if your hardware supports it) should give a boost as well.
