Ich werfe mal das Stichwort PolicyKit in den Raum. Bei meinem KDE musste ich 
folgende Zeilen in /etc/PolicyKit/PolicyKit.conf einfügen (das sollte aber 
nicht vom DE abhängig sein, das steckt ja tiefer im System):
