My experience is that the cards are plenty good performance wise. But I
*never* goto the newest kernel or ati-drivers until they have been
upgraded and I have plenty of time to downgrade again if I need to. I am
just thinking about jumping to 2.6.16 because I see that ati-drivers
have been updated to support them (about time). I have also played ut2k4
on my laptop (IBM T42) and the graphics were purty, with an ati card =)

I do not tell people that they are horrible cards, instead I tell people
to be prepared to deal with them.
