Here's how I fixed thunderbird:: (68.1.0) |
29 |
|
30 |
Old cruft: |
31 |
mail-client/thunderbird |
32 |
Available versions: [M]52.9.1^d [M](~)52.9.1-r1^d[1] |
33 |
(~)60.6.1^d[1] 60.8.0^d (~)68.0-r2^td {bindist |
34 |
|
35 |
But now:: |
36 |
|
37 |
Installed versions: 68.1.0^td(02:41:53 AM 09/24/2019)(dbus |
38 |
gmp-autoupdate jack system-av1 system-harfbuzz system-icu system-jpeg |
39 |
system-libevent system-libvpx system-sqlite system-webp |
40 |
|
41 |
|
42 |
!works fantastically! version 68.1.0 |
43 |
|
44 |
not sure why/where I set something to get the latest versions , that do |
45 |
not show up with 'eix Thunderbird' but for many packages I get these. |
46 |
This install is going on over 4 years, and I just hack at it, till I get |
47 |
what I want. |
48 |
|
49 |
Now I'm trying to prepare a basic install DVD that will work to use the |
50 |
exact format of the old style HD as well as the new stuff. Just a |
51 |
simple baseline gentoo install, that I can turn into a firewall, basic |
52 |
server or a very basic workstation that can then have whatever desktop |
53 |
installed on top of the basic install. I really screw-up the low level, |
54 |
custom disk stuff. So for now, |
55 |
I'll still with a basic disk format. I have standardize on 2T drives. |
56 |
Here's a typical fstab:: |
57 |
|
58 |
/dev/sda1 /boot ext2 defaults,noatime 0 2 |
59 |
/dev/sda2 none swap sw 0 0 |
60 |
/dev/sda3 / ext4 defaults,noatime 0 1 |
61 |
/dev/sda4 /usr/local ext4 defaults,noatime 0 1 |
62 |
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto auto,user 0 0 |
63 |
shm /dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noexec 0 0 |
64 |
|
65 |
# Just removed for openrc-0.18.4 |
66 |
#none /proc proc defaults 0 0 |
67 |
|
68 |
|
69 |
Yep, I'm strictly an Open-RC, gentoo hack (2004). Aging is driving me to |
70 |
simplify and standardize my gentoo installs, as now, I take older |
71 |
hardware, install gentoo on it, and give them away to HS and college |
72 |
kids. Once folks get a baseline gentoo install, most all, continue with |
73 |
Gentoo. So any advice is most welcome. Publish in this list or direct |
74 |
private emails, either is fine! |
75 |
|
76 |
About that baseline gentoo install CD:: |
77 |
|
78 |
ALL suggestions are most welcome! How do folks install dozens of gentoo |
79 |
systems/week ? |
80 |
|
81 |
TIA, |
82 |
James |
