Hey all. |
2 |
|
3 |
I'm curious as to why a handful of /dev/ entries seem to be pointing to |
4 |
the same device - notably, to hdc, which is my DVD burner. See here: |
5 |
|
6 |
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Feb 18 05:29 cdrom -> hdc |
7 |
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Feb 18 05:29 cdrw -> hdc |
8 |
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Feb 18 05:29 dvd -> hdc |
9 |
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Feb 18 05:29 dvdrw -> hdc |
10 |
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 22, 0 Feb 15 12:55 hdc |
11 |
|
12 |
And here is the dmesg spam: |
13 |
|
14 |
hdc: tray open |
15 |

16 |

Is there some sort of conflict over devices here? I've never seen this |
57 |
type of idle activity before. How can I get the /dev/ directory and/or |
58 |
my system to only recognize one /dev/ entry as my DVD-RW, ala hdc? |
59 |
|
60 |
Thanks! |

Oh! I thought they smelled bad on the *outside*! |
