i have recently been haveing problems running some applications, and am |

not sure why - or when exactly the problems started occurring. |

when running vlc, i get the following error (outputs to the console): |

i get a similar error when attempting to run xscreensaver-demo (or when |

xscreensaver attempts to run the screensaver) the difference with the |

error in these cases is the number after: 'Serial number of failed |

request:' and 'Current serial number in output stream:' |
