29 I'm pretty sure I never said such thing. Both sys-apps/systemd and
30 sys-apps/openrc satisfy virtual/service-manager, so if you installed
31 systemd, OpenRC was depcleaned some days ago, but since bug 373219[1]
32 hasn't been closed, they added OpenRC into the @system set, so now
33 it's not even depcleaned. You can put -*sys-apps/openrc in
34 /etc/portage/profile/package to solve that.

41 I believe you can install OpenRC and systemd in parallel without
42 problems. GNOME 3 will pull systemd when installed, but that doesn't
43 mean you will need to uninstall OpenRC. However, several GNOME
44 packages (including gdm, if I'm not mistaken) will fail if not running
45 with systemd as PID=1.
