8 It's not there for the users, it's there for the software. How much better
9 would that software be if the developers spent half their time writing
10 code to communicate, write to logs and all the other standard tasks. Next
11 you'll suggest that filesystems should be optional because the apps can
12 always work out which disk blocks to use by themselves. Don't get me
13 started on compilers, what a bloated waste of resources when apps could
14 be written in hand crafted assembly.
