3 Nah. They are *exactly* the same.

5 Evidently someone realized that the original SATA connector is way too
6 fragile to be regularly used to plug/unplug a cable by hand, so they
7 engineered in some features which make it a bit more resilient. But
8 apart from the shape of the connector there is really no difference.

10 (Well, in the old days of SATAI not many chipsets supported hotplug;
11 often boards came with a couple of eSATA ports wired to a separate chip
12 with hotplug support. But on virtually all new boards all ports support
13 hotplug).
