I believe you missed the point of my message (intentionally); if the forums |
11 |
and development mailing lists are open to non-developers and are suitably |
12 |
moderated for inappropriate posts, it doesn't seem entirely sensible (or |
13 |
logical) to me that the development chat room is publically muted. |

Looking at a few possibilities: |
18 |
If an individual was spamming a developer through the forums, chat rooms or |
19 |
email, they would be ignored, ignored or blocked, respectively. |
20 |
|
21 |
If an individual was spamming a large number of people through the forums, |
22 |
mailing lists or chat rooms, they would be banned or muted (or both). |
23 |
|
24 |
If an individual was participating in off-topic discussion in the forums, |
25 |
mailing lists or chat rooms, they could be asked to take their conversation |
26 |
to a more appropriate location. |
27 |
|
28 |
If an individual was contributing positively, they would normally be welcome |
29 |
to continue doing so. |
30 |
|
31 |
|
32 |
Please feel free to correct me if you see a difference between the forums, |
33 |
mailing lists and chat rooms in terms of positive and negative actions, and |
34 |
the corresponding reactions or inactions. |
35 |
|
36 |
In the majority of cases, I doubt there would be any reasonable difference |
37 |
between the different settings of communication: I would like to propose that |
38 |
we open this up for discussion, as I believe that the current system would |
39 |
benefit from the change. |
