A bug from over two years ago involving a developer who is no
longer with Gentoo? Yes, Gentoo is far from perfect, but surely you
could do better than that.

Gentoo is a community-driven distribution. We do our best to fix
problems as they arise and to the best of our abilities, but we're
quite far from perfect. We rely on our userbase to point out problems
and help us fix them. I'm sure you will disagree, but this thread
that you started does not fall under that category. Your initial post
was (a) not particularly precise, (b) in the wrong place, since filing a
bug would have been much more helpful, and (c) written as a rather
whiny complaint instead of as a helpful criticism. In response to
my request that you be more precise in a better forum, which I
thought had not been particularly rude, you replied with a diatribe.
(Incidentally, all Gentoo mailing lists should be considered
"clean-language" lists.) It would seem that you have a grudge, and that
more than anything else you were looking for an opportunity to vent your
spleen. In that case, we have more appropriate outlets than the
gentoo-dev mailing list: if your grudge is with particular developers
then you are welcome to mail devrel@g.o with your complaints,
while if your grudge is with how we do things then you can either file a
bug (bugs.gentoo.org) or write up a GLEP (glep.gentoo.org).

The FreeBSD folks put together a fine system, and we have considerable
respect for them. Please give them our regards.
