It might affect any percentual quorum requirements, as mentioned
elsewhere.
It also means I'm officially (and automatically) part of some
organization structure in a country whose laws I have no idea of. For
example, can it somehow affect any future USA Visa applying needs if
something goes bad with the Foundation (which is completely out of my
control). Probably not, unless I'm an official trustee position, but
who knows. I just don't want to care at this point; once I do, I want
to be able to apply myself, and I might just as well do once I know the
details, at a point of time I want to spend time finding out. But it is
MY choice.

I don't think such automatic inclusion is even legal in my country case
(well, if the Gentoo Foundation were a non-profit in my country, but it
isn't, so it doesn't apply, but still). I don't know if it would be
legal in the state of New Mexico.

I have no idea what a Foundation means; I know what a MTÜ means in my
country. Can a foundation be considered a workplace, so (Gentoo) work I
do would be owned by it. I have no clue, and that's a problem. The
foundation page talks something about intellectual property rights,
does it mean I would be automatically assigning my copyright over to be
able to enforce these rights? I don't want to have a clue right now,
just don't force me to be a Foundation member if I want to be a Gentoo
developer.

And (people in official positions within the Foundation, or delegated
appropriate) should spell these kind of things out very clearly, so I
can make a well-informed decision in the future without spending too
much research. And then become a member if I see merit, by my OWN
choice. Just like I chose to become a Gentoo developer in 2006; I
didn't choose to become a foundation member, don't make me one
automatically. I believe there was no Gentoo Foundation then.
