Speaking of LiveCDs ... |
8 |
|
9 |
I've recently aquired an "OldWorld" Mac (PowerPC 7500/100 with a G3 250 |
10 |
upgrade installed), and have upgraded the hard drive from a 700 to a 2 |
11 |
and 4GB, and would very much like to install Gentoo on the 4. However, |
12 |
it appears that the CD doesn't initialize my SCSI controller, or SCSI |
13 |
support and there don't appear to be any SCSI-related modules to load to |
14 |
diagnose the problem. |
15 |
|
16 |
Unfortunately I've only got 128MB of RAM, so there's not really enough |
17 |
space to roll my own kernel, and I can't access any of my drives to |
18 |
create any temp space (no ATA controllers are present), and since the |
19 |
Gentoo 1.2 images appear to have been removed from all mirrors I find |
20 |
myself at somewhat of a loss. :/ |
21 |
|
22 |
I'm currently exploring other options (SuSE, Tom's Rootboot, Knoppix, |
23 |
etc.) but would rather see Gentoo improved than rely on third party |
24 |
support. If there's anything I can do to help, any input I can provide, |
25 |
or anything I can test, please don't hesitate to drop me a line at |
